Frozen, quitting, or clueless?

You can tell which Core Skill you're struggling with by the kind of trouble you get into.

When you notice what's happening, see what to do, and want to do the right thing, but you're paralyzed in inaction, it's a lack of confidence. The root is usually a fear of inadequacy, embarrassment, or imagined ruin.

Self-confidence is the belief that you can figure it out, or that you’re willing to try and pick yourself up if you fall.

When you start things but drop them when they get hard, boring, or repetitive, it's a lack of discipline. The root is usually a preference for comfort, ease, and immediate results.

Self-discipline is the willingness to keep going with what you decided to do and maintain a high standard even when you’re tired or something distracting comes into view.

When you cause issues you didn't know you were causing, it's a lack of awareness. The root can be ignorance. You really didn't know. It might be arrogance. You thought you knew, but didn't notice you were wrong.

Self-awareness is knowing what you’re really doing and not kidding yourself about it. Look at what’s actually there, not what you wish was there.

None of this is mysterious. Watch the issues that arise. Watch your sticking points. They'll tell you which Core Skills need practice.

Make the leap. Do the work.
