Accept or avoid responsibility?
Responsibility is the most frequently praised behavior skill that is least consistently practiced. And not because people don’t understand responsibility.
People struggle with skills like discipline, courage, and patience due to lack of understanding. But not responsibility. Everyone understands responsibility well enough to practice it.
So when you don’t take responsibility, it’s not because you’re ignorant or confused. It’s because you don’t want to take responsibility. That self-awareness is crucial.
When you avoid responsibility by hiding from it or pushing it away, it’s because you don’t want what comes with that responsibility. Avoiding responsibility isn’t an accident. It’s a choice you make.
You are responsible for your choice to accept or avoid responsibility.
Make the leap. Do the work.
